Floor-standing or hanging beater?

What matters is not so much the thread density as the type of fabric. If the fabric needs to be beaten very firmly, for example rugs or dense fabrics, the floor-standing beater is the better choice. Light fabrics such as fine scarves can also have a very high thread density. But since they are light and do not need a particularly strong beat, the hanging beater is often the more comfortable choice.
