Tablet Weaving – One of the Oldest Weaving Techniques

In tablet weaving (also called card weaving), warp threads are threaded through square cards with four holes each (A, B, C, D). By turning the cards – forward, backward, or in alternating sequences – colourful patterns emerge in a narrow band. The technique is perfect for belts, trimmings, bookmarks, straps, and decorative bands of all kinds.

The Three Sizes at a Glance

• Classic (6.5 × 6.5 cm / 2.4 × 2.4"): The versatile all-round card. A comfortable size that fits well in the hand and is easy to turn – ideal for beginners and experienced weavers alike.
• Double Weave (7 × 7 cm / 2¾ × 2¾"): Designed for advanced techniques such as 4-colour pebble weave or Icelandic double weave. Extra holes in the centre of the sides create a double jump for more complex structures.
• Tiny (5 × 5 cm / 2 × 2"): Designed for the Lojan Inkeltje (mini inkle loom) and narrow projects. Also ideal for those who prefer small, compact cards.
