The centre-closed dobby for 16, 24 or 32 shafts

The Leclerc Weavebird is a floor loom with computer-controlled centre-closed dobby. There are no jacks, no lamms, no tie-ups to re-set and no limits on shaft combinations. Two treadles at the back of the frame control shedding: the right treadle opens the shed, the left closes it. Because part of the warp threads rise while the rest sink, the tension stays even throughout the shed, which makes the Weavebird noticeably light to operate for its size.

The Weavebird is available in three shaft options (16, 24 or 32 shafts) and in weaving widths from 90 cm to 150 cm. All versions come with an interface box and work with Mac and PC software. Software is not included.

Frequently asked questions

Is shipping included in the price?
No. The Weavebird is a special case: shipping is calculated separately because the loom weighs between 110 and 185 kg depending on the variant. We work out the shipping cost and let you know before you place the order.

How many shafts do I need?
16 shafts cover most structures and patterns. 24 shafts open up more complex weave concepts, and 32 shafts are for weavers who want the widest possible range of pattern options. When in doubt, start with 16 and upgrade later.

Which weaving width suits me?
The 90 cm width works well for scarves, shawls and smaller projects. The 115 cm width is a solid all-rounder for clothing and home textiles. The 150 cm version suits wide blankets, upholstery fabrics and continuous yardage.
