No tie-ups, no limits on shaft combinations
On the Leclerc Weavebird there are no jacks, no lam boxes and nothing to re-tie; the dobby handles everything. Two treadles at the back of the frame are all you need: right treadle opens the shed, left treadle closes it. Because some warp threads rise at the same time as others sink, the tension stays evenly distributed. That makes the Weavebird surprisingly light to operate for its size, comparable to a 4-shaft counterbalance loom.
The Weavebird is available with 16, 24 or 32 shafts and in weaving widths from 90 to 150 cm. All models come with an interface box and work with Mac and PC weaving software. Software is not included.

Frequently asked questions
Is shipping included in the price?
Yes. Freight is already included in the Weavebird price, even though the loom weighs between 110 and 185 kg depending on the variant. There are no additional shipping costs.
How many shafts do I need?
16 shafts cover most weave structures and patterns. 24 shafts open up more complex structures, and 32 shafts are for weavers who want to use the full range of pattern possibilities. When in doubt, start with 16 and upgrade later.
Which weaving width is right for me?
90 cm suits scarves, shawls and smaller projects. The 115 cm width is a good all-rounder for clothing and home textiles. Go for 150 cm for wide blankets, upholstery fabrics and continuous yardage.
